Reactome is a comprehensive, open-access resource that provides curated biological pathways facilitating the understanding of complex molecular interactions and cellular events. We are proposing a major visual and technological update to improve user experience. This update relies on a modernised design following SBGN standards, and a web implementation using cytoscape.js. It also introduces a new way for Reactome to display the complex nature of its pathways by improving the visualisation of its subunits, the subpathways, inspired by tube maps. This update also rethinks Reactome interactivity strategy by dedicating specific areas of the diagram elements to each state. The importance of the state is reflected in its allocated surface, and its position makes it combine constructively with the other states, allowing aesthetic synergies. A demo is already available at https://reactome-pwp.github.io/PathwayBrowser/, allowing you to visualise any of our human pathways by adding its identifier at the end of URL. The code is available at https://github.com/reactome-pwp/PathwayBrowser and libraries will be distributed on NPM to support community usage. Mail: eragueneau@ebi.ac.uk
