Getting poster data...
Maciek Smuga-Otto, Michele Arduengo, Isobel Maciver (Promega Corporation, Madison WI, USA)
Visualizations of cell signaling pathways traditionally attempt to be comprehensive and information-dense. As a consequence, non-experts tend to be overwhelmed and put off, limiting the ability of the poster or diagram to serve an educational role. We took the opposite approach; by choosing two specific pathways important to modern oncology, we focused on rendering visually compelling and reasonably accurate artwork, and then writing up each pathway in considerable detail. We brought the art and the writing together by presenting the whole as an interactive feature available on the Promega iPad app and website. The user can focus on specific sections of the pathway by touching on a given protein. This invites leisurely exploration of the pathways, and provides specialists with reference information while encouraging use by non-experts just being introduced to the concepts.http://www.promega.com/resources/tools/interactive-pathways/
