Biophilia, biophilic design, bio-inspired and bio-design are design genres that adopted nature and biological elements as part of design processes. Natural elements have always inspired and are often used in everyday design. The microorganisms chosen to be embedded into a simple stool design are moss, algae, fungi and bacteria. The stool design is inspired by the molecular structure of wood, consisting of cellulose/ xylem layers. It is usual for a tree in its natural environment to be surrounded by these microorganisms. This stool is a proposal to show the form of the microorganisms in the molecular structure. Bacteria received controversial feedback in our survey. Many participants rated bacteria negatively in terms of their potential to be integrated into everyday products. Still, bacteria fascinated some of the respondents. Surprisingly, fungi and algae also received “fascination” responses although in overall there was a mixed perception in terms of bio product design potential. The new findings from the proposed designs will be used to gain feedback from respondents on their perception and emotional responses towards the incorporation of mimicked biological materials
