Minardo is a novel visualization method for biological time-series data. We display directional interactions between members of a network at multiple time points in one graph, while also indicating sub-cellular location of each event in a manner that is easy to understand for biologists. Hub nodes in the network are represented as tracks progressing through time clock-wise. The diagram is drawn on a schematic of a cell, bounded by a cell membrane, with the nucleus in the center. For the Cell Snapshot, we showed signalling events that occur in fat cells in response to insulin arriving at the insulin receptor - that is what happens when we eat! We also built an interactive version of this graphic that shows detailed information about each event in pop-up windows.
