The EMBL-EBI Complex Portal is an encyclopaedic resource of high quality, manually curated, functional biomolecular complexes. Those complexes consist mainly of proteins but they may also contain small molecules, nucleic acids and subcomplexes. The Molecular Complex Navigator is a project aiming to simplify the visualisation of large sets of related complexes in a context-specific manner. After evaluating multiple visualisation options, the Navigator will be implemented as a matrix, which contains in the rows the complexes, in the columns their interactors. The details of the complexes and the interactors will be accessible by clicking. Clicking on the complex will give access to its detailed complex portal page, clicking on the interactor will give access to its UniProt, ChEBI or complex portal page depending on its type. The matrix will allow the user to see the subcomplexes’ interactors thanks to an expandable menu. The cells of the matrix will contain the stoichiometry of the complexes’ interactors. The Molecular Complex Navigator aims to offer a solution in the visualisation of multiple closely related complexes and their interactors in a simple and efficient manner.
