People living on a planet with different light, would probably surprised to know that plans on Earth are green. When we see an object coming out of a window at the 10th floor of a building, we expect (quite reasonably) that it will likely reach the ground in few seconds, and we might decide to move a little away from the likely trajectory, which we calculate instantly and intuitively, even in the case of total ignorance of Galileo, Newton and their followers. Our visual intelligence only needs some practice in order to extract information, rules, patterns, and recognize exceptions: that's why we have built BioBlender and used it to elaborate a code for the representation of physical features of molecules like, for now, the lipophilic and electrostatic potentials. BioBlender is based on the very powerful 3D computer graphics program Blender, which is developed and kept as an open source project that includes not only the classical features of Hollywood-style animation packages, but also a game engine, which we have adapted to elaborate protein morphing between conformations.
