Getting poster data...
Kate Patterson (Garvan Institute of Medical Research, 384 Victoria Street Darlinghurst, NSW, Australia, 2010)
This classic pedigree diagram is overlaid with actual magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data obtained from the cervical spines of dogs. These dogs demonstrate varying degrees of an inherited central nervous system defect called syringomyelia, where the fluid space within the central canal is enlarged, causing a spectrum of clinical signs. The focus areas and abnormalities are labeled in red. The purpose of this work is to use the recognizable pedigree diagram and raw biological data to showcase the inherent beauty of MRI images.
