Photoreceptor cells (blue) in the retina of the eye transduce light waves into sensory neural signals for vision. Cone photoreceptor cells (green) are especially sensitive to different light wavelengths within their cone-shaped outer segment and allow us to perceive colors as a mixture of reds, greens, and blues.
