Firstly; this image is supposed to represent how we are still relatively in the dark. We shine light on very small pieces of a very big puzzle. Secondly; our immune system relies on communication with its environment. Identifying and processing foreign and harmful entities while tolerating self. Autoimmunity can result from the failure of tolerance. There are many issues in society that seem to carry similarities with the immune system. Keeping our selves in the dark with respect to others can lead to a failure in tolerance and a kind of autoimmunity towards what is falsely identified potentially harmful.
