Mitochondria are essential organelles in all eukaryotic cells. They produce cellular energy in the form of ATP and are involved in a multitude of metabolic, as well as signaling processes. Mitochondria are however not uniform organelles and their protein content depends strongly on the cellular context, as well as the cells metabolic requirements. To investigate changes in the expression dynamics of mitochondria-associated genes (mito-genes) in different conditions, cell types or species, we have developed mitoXplorer platform. mitoXplorer 2.0 is freely available at: http://mitoxplorer2.ibdm.univ-mrs.fr/. It offers a set of highly expressive and interactive visualization tools to explore and mine our hand curated mitochondrial interactome integrated either with public expression data or with data uploaded by the user. Moreover with the aim of unravelling mitochondrial dynamics and their contribution to physiological and pathological conditions, we allow the user to identify potential regulatory pathways and key regulators of mitochondrial plasticity and effectively visualize observed changes in time in different experimental or disease conditions.
