Since it was first described in Aequorea victoria, GFP has become one of the most important tools of fluorescents-based visualization of biological systems. As a scientist, working mainly with fluorescence microscopy, GFP and its derivatives always were an important part of my research. The painting (acrylic paint on wood) is to illustrate the fascination for this protein in an action-painting inspired manner. The blue of the background refers to the excitation wavelength of GFP while the green dripping stands for its emission.
