Getting poster data...
Deborah Figueiredo Nacer de Oliveira (Div of Oncology, Dept of Clinical Sciences Lund, Lund University, Medicon Village, Lund, Sweden)
Breast cancer is a molecularly heterogeneous disease and as such many obstacles exist when it comes to patient management. Clinical research initiatives such as SCAN-B in southern Sweden exist with an aim to better tackle this problem, but good research cannot be conducted without good data. This is why patients willing to join such initiatives are pivotal to scientific discovery and advancement. This poster pays homage to breast cancer warriors by portraying over 6,000 patients from SCAN-B divided in the five clinically relevant molecular subgroups. Circle sizes represent how many patients are included in a group. Clinical and molecular characteristics from patients and their tumors are included, such as age, type of treatment administered and tumor size. Male patients with breast cancer are much less common but equally important for research and are represented here in cold colors. My warmest regards to all of those that chose to contribute to science in one of the darkest moments of their lives.
