Biologists need quick, effective ways to examine their data, regardless of their ability to write code. Visualization provides a way to understand data and the meaning of the results generated by analysis tools, and is a necessary step to clearly reveal patterns in the data that cannot be identified using statistics alone. Linked, interactive graphs are used as dynamic filters and query controls for visual information seeking. MetroNome is helping researchers find and use the data they need. They can assemble synthetic cohorts—subjects identified by phenotypic and genotypic traits that meet the requirements of a new study—from existing data.
