Getting poster data...
Per Oksvold (Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden)
The protein expression data produced in the antibody based HPR project, is annually released in the publicly available Human Protein Atlas 1 . The latest release includes antibodies targeting protein products from 1/3 of the human protein-coding genes, which results in tens of millions of expression data points. To be able to view this amount of data in a comprehensive way, the expression data is transformed into a scale of five color codes on an expression profile overview page for each antibody. In order to find a specific expression profile pattern, a search function is built into the system that searches these color codes 2 . This web service is still in its cradle and discussions on the availability of the expression data and the usability of the Human Protein Atlas are always important for the ongoing development.
