This work depicts the head of Platynereis dumerilii as a linocut print on a page from a 1900s antique science textbook. Bringing a more abstract contemporary style to the world of scientific illustration which is classically highly detailed and realistic. Through combining antique science plates and imagery of Platynereis dumerilii, a model marine invertebrate currently being utilised in many novel studies, this piece aims to highlight the juxtaposition between the past and present of biological research and how far we’ve come.
