Chromosomes are composed of stable compartments that can interact with each other. While this compartments do not change in different cell types, they can are arranged differently. To visualize this interplay between rigidity and flexibility I used a self made kaleidocycle whose sides are decorated with chromosome conformation capture contacts summarizing 1 billion sequencing reads. The red colour indicates a higher number of read pairs connecting two genomic regions. Compartments appear as red-yellowish triangles corresponding to regions of increased contact.
