Streptomyces are soil-dwelling bacteria which during development form complex branched mycelium composed of elongated cells containing multiple copies of their linear chromosome. This makes microscopic analysis of their growth quite challenging. However fluorescent complexes can be easily identified from a plot profile created along the cell. findpeaks package facilitates complex detection in noisy fluorescent signal, their visualization during cell growth and basic statistical analysis of obtained results. To do this it employs R package Peaks and a shiny framework. Using shiny makes the app more accesible for users do not having any R-programming knowledge. With this approach we have shown that changing DNA supercoiling level in the cell (by depleting the level of Streptomyces single type I topoisomerase) affects placememnt and segregation of chromosomes during Streptomyces cell growth.
