PathogenAR is an augmented reality (AR) application providing interactive experiences with high-quality, scientifically accurate three-dimensional models related to infectious diseases. This piece was created as a promotional item for a new module describing how the S-Protein binds to ACE-2 as a first step to infection with SARS-CoV-2. The S-Protein is shown in two conformations: open (bound to ACE-2) and closed. Users can control the morph between these conformations in the module. The coloring scheme for the S-Protein indicates the S1 (red) and S2 (orange) domains, with desaturation used to indicate regions which are computed and not based on crystallography data. This scene was created in Autodesk Maya and rendered with Arnold.
