The depiction of water in molecular animations is a significant visualization challenge. Frequently the clearest option is to omit it altogether. Here we depict a eukaryotic ribosome partially obscured by molecular water. The water has been simulated using a particle system in Autodesk Maya with accurate scale and density. Hydrogen bonding has not been simulated. The image emphasizes the remarkable difference in scale between these molecules.
