Modern technology makes video an easily accessible and therefore more and more omnipresent medium that also amplifies its role in the field of knowledge. Scientific visualisation has always been a crucial part of science communication, especially on the molecular scale that is not directly accessible to the human eye. Adding motion to the mix opens a great deal of opportunities. To produce high quality molecular animations, a sound knowledge of the principles of general design and related fields such as UX design and cinematic storytelling secures clarity in every frame. Applying the principles of scientific visualisation lets us chose the adequate representation to illustrate current knowledge. We further design the motion to reflect molecular reality and aim at advancing the audience and engaging it through storytelling. The overall molecular animation strategy ensures consistent complexity to reach our communication goal.
