Alzheimer ‘s disease (AD) can be detected in the prodromal stage of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Disease monitoring of patients with MCI due to AD is crucial to slow down memory impairment, behavioural changes, and dementia. An important scientific and clinical issue is to predict and track with biomarkers and behavioural indices of disease evolution. The “Blood Biomarker-based Diagnostic Tools for Early Stage Alzheimer’s Disease (BBDiag)” project (H2020- MSCA-ITN-ETN-2016) is researching possible blood-biomarkers for AD diagnosis developing a point-of care (PoC) device. The PoC device will send the data to a mobile application, which will be able to analyse data and display the results on a mobile device. We are now developing the graphical user interface of the application as well as a second application to monitor the lifestyle (e.g. eating habit) of patients and, eventually, assist them modifying their lifestyle with positive effects on the disease progression. In detail, we are developing an application to monitor and stop smoking. Designing user-friendly applications, we are using participative research and design methods.
