The Electron Microscopy Data Bank (EMDB) is a repository that stores three-dimensional electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM) data of macromolecules, complexes, and cellular structures. Its companion archive EMPIAR stores raw data as well as certain kinds of volume EM data. Statistics and graphs are an essential aspect of EMDB, allowing users to explore and analyse trends in cryo-EM research and its community to extract insights and knowledge from the vast amounts of 3DEM data stored in the archive. The EMDB website provides three ways to visualise archive-wide statistics: (1) predefined plots, including 94 charts covering all manner of EMDB and EMPIAR aspects; (2) search-based plots, including nine types of charts that can be generated specifically for the results of any search; and finally, (3) the recently added custom graph builder, a tool with which users can easily define entirely customised charts using any EMDB or EMPIAR data.
