The Moving Knowledge initiative supports community building efforts and aims at the development of a scientific visualisation repository, a knowledge base and common standards. It takes on two main challenges: (1) Scientific visualisations are only findable via general keyword search and hardly contain detailed further information. This is addressed by the development of a repository that aims at scientific communicators, scientific visualisation creators and researchers. It requires sophisticated search and filter capabilities to fulfil the usage objectives of each group. The repository therefore needs to include metadata (including assessment parameters), data on the content, on the design, and also reference annotation. (2) Creators of scientific visualisations lack a dedicated community and knowledge base. Central to the community building efforts are the website (MovingKnowledge.org), a Twitch stream (https://www.twitch.tv/movingknowledge) and Discord discussion channels. The knowledge base collects items relevant for scientific visualisations, including articles, events, courses, job listings, projects, etc.
