The jp_doodle JavaScript library provides a straightforward toolbox for creating special purpose interactive visualizations and graphical widgets. Here we show some example widgets built with jp_doodle many of which are being used in various biological studies. The widgets may be used to produce end product illustrations for publication, or for data exploration, or for interactive analysis, or for data capture and cleaning. The package supports two dimensional drawing with keyboard and mouse event interactions and smooth transitions as well as other animations. Full support for three dimensional interactive diagrams is under development. The applications interface to the package is primarily in JavaScript and components built exclusively in JavaScript may be embedded in any web context. The package also supports Jupyter notebook interfaces with a Python API wrapper. The Jupyter interface is useful for creating reproducible and publishable scientific workflows.
