Cover image highlighting papers in pursuit of producing a synthetic, minimal yeast genome. At the time it was possible for 6.5 out of 16 chromosomes ofSaccharomyces cerevisiaeto be synthesized. This illustration made use of Hi-C data to visualize the locations and paths of chromosomes in a hypothetical yeast cell with all possible synthesizable arms. Packed chromatin can be glimpsed through the 7 gold-colored synthesized arms.
