Dr Fatahiya Kashif (Federal Medical College, Hanna Road, G-8/4, Islamabad, Pakistan)
As heme prosthetic group oscillates between the planar and puckered conformations, oxygen joins or leaves the hemoglobin molecule. The drop of blood shows the revolving hemoglobin loaded with oxygen in the relaxed conformation. The planar heme moieties can be seen in the pockets of the globin folds. The transformation in the geometry of heme can be seen as the oxygen loaded planar heme approaches the drop of blood and leaves in the puckered state. The universe in the tiny drop and the flower like heme moieties depict the beauty of life at molecular level.
