This image shows a rendering done by our web-based trajectory visualisation tool. The traces show the clustered trajectories of about 10k cells during early zebrafish development imaged in vivo by light-sheet microscopy. We felt that these patterns somewhat resembles Zen calligraphy, in particular, the Ensō symbol that can symbolise movement and development but also perfection (depending on if it is open or closed). In a way, this visualisation gives us a glimpse at the brushstrokes that nature uses to build its myriad forms. You can interactively explore visualisations at https://imb-dev.gitlab.io/linus-manuscript/.
