Fluorescence in situ hybridisation slide analysis of a drug-resistant Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) cell line. CML leukaemic progression is driven by an oncogenic fusion gene; BCR/ABL1. Here, BCR (chr. 22q11) is labelled green, and ABL1 (chr. 9q34) is labelled red. Nuclear DAPI staining is coloured blue. Results are indicative of BCR/ABL1 gene amplification, which can lead to drug resistance via gene and protein overexpression, however the focus of the picture is what appears to be the UV autofluorescence of a fungal growth on my slide, which I thought looked cool.
